Halloween fun!

This is sooooo soooo late!

This year my Halloween was pretty quiet. I didn't go crazy with the costumes, because this year I was involved with more work than play. My main focus was running a club booth at my school's Halloween carnival. It was balloon sword fighting and all the little kids loved it! I did however, try to make myself look festive for the holiday. I picked up the sparkly orange big bow at a craft store and then wore a spooky themed shirt! What do you think?

A friend of mine was a surfer!

Sorry it's been a while

New College!

I know I have been absolutely terrible about posting lately. This year is so crazy and stressful. However, I thought I would share an exciting update. I have decided to add another college to my list of schools that I'm applying to, University of South Carolina! This is the only school that I'll be applying to out of state, which makes it even more exciting!

I'm definitely going to be posting more and more as things start to get a little less hectic! Tell me what you think about USC!

As always,

Spontaneous Splattering!

Every once in the while it's just necessary to do something a little crazy! The other day me and my best friend Sarah were sitting in art class and decided to randomly do some splatter painting. Our art teacher, who is really one of the coolest teachers I have ever had, saw no problem with us going outside and slinging paint around until our hearts' content. Our BIG (first choice) applications were about due and it was a great way to blow off some steam.

We started with a a big purple canvas that someone had started, but had quickly discarded. From there we used some very running acrylic paints and began to sling multiple colors onto it. We then went a little crazy drawing shapes with our hands on the wet paint and even leaving hand prints. Our last and final touch was to marble some yellow and green paint across the front. Some of our other friends wandering around campus also contributed splatters and smears here and there.  Overall, it really turned out crazy! I jokingly named the painting "Friendship," however I think it really suits the picture. While it probably won't ever be in an art museum, we had such a great time making it!

What fun spontaneous thing have you done lately?
Hope y'all have a fab day!!!

Fashion Discovery

The weather has definitely been bipolar lately.  For a little while I truly thought southern North Carolina was actually going to get a real fall, however I was wrong. This week the temperatures jacked back up to the upper with tons of humidity. (Not fun! It wrecks havoc on my hair.)

Anyway for those of us dealing with this weather it is crazy to try and put together a decent outfit. A lot of times it requires some rather summery pieces, even though it is well into fall! Recently I discovered platform wedges (or at least that's what I think they are called.) At first I was really hesitant about the way that they would look on! To be honest I thought they would look more like heeled clogs, but they are really flattering. They make your legs look great.

My first pair are from Kate Spade.  I love the different colors on each side the green and the turquoise! You can't really tell in the picture but the cork has gold flecks in it. In other words I'm completely in love with these shoes!

Let me know what your latest fashion discovery is!

Book Worm!

So lately I haven't been able to have to much time to myself because of how crazy everything has been! Probably one of the things I miss the most during the school year is reading. Of course I have to read for my classes but that's just not the same; it's not nearly as fun. I am really excited about is J. K. Rowling's new book The Casual Vacancy. (I just got the book yesterday!)I love love love the Harry Potter series and have read each book multiple times. It is definitely going to be a challenge for me to let go of the world of Harry Potter as I start the book, but Rowling has proven herself to be such a talented writer I'm sure I will love this new story! Let me know what y'all are currently reading!

Artsy

This year I decided to take an art class, because I've become really interested in painting. I love it! It is so relaxing and really fun. I like experimenting with all the different colors! For my first attempt, I painted a seascape, and in the distance there are tiny little people. I made the girl blonde like me and and the boy brunette. My ideal couple picture!

Whenever I paint it reminds me of Ally from The Notebook, which is by the way one of my all time favorite movies. In a cheesy way painting make me feel like a more traditional southern belle. I plan on sharing more about my forays in painting as I explore more!

Let me know what y'all think!
And as always,
Hope y'all have a fab day

College apps!

Senior year is just getting crazier and crazier! With my time filled up with school and college apps, I thought I would let y'all know the schools I'm planning on applying to! Maybe y'all can even give me some input on the merits of each! I'm definitely going to apply to UNC Chapel Hill, NC State, UNC Wilmington, and East Carolina. Known in North Carolina as Carolina, State, the dub, and ECU! I really want to go somewhere in North Carolina, for one I love NC, it's a beautiful state and two I don't want to get too far away from home.

Have a fab day y'all
and make sure to enjoy Labor day weekend!

Lilly troubles

I'm sure most of the Lilly lovers know that there was trouble with the website yesterday! I tried to enter the website and get a hold of those amazing sales, just as it turned 9:00! I was dismayed when I was continually presented with an error message! Eventually the website was restored thanks to the hard work at Lilly. There was so much traffic that the server was unable to support it all! I was able to score some great deals, however merchandise sold out fast. Unfortunately I wasn't able to score everything on my wish list. The online Lilly sale is a great time to stock up on some of your wardrobe essentials. I'm the type of person that has been the same size for a couple years, so its a great way to expand my Lilly collection! As a result of the website troubles, Lilly has extended the sale to the 25th! So make sure to take advantage of the great deals! Pictures to come!

A Little Bit of Craziness!

This past week I started my senior year! It has been so crazy, with the senior breakfast, car painting and class meetings, then add four AP's on top of it all and it makes for one exhausted girl! Senior year has definitely been fun so far! At my school, we get a senior lounge which has both a mini fridge and a cable tv! While its not very large, we still manage to pack a lot of people inside and have a great time!

One great thing to remember this coming week is that in just under two days Lilly has their annual summer sale! So make sure you don't miss it! I know I won't! The sale last for three days, but it's best to 'jump on it' early so that your size isn't gone!

Another thing if you haven't picked up a lilly planner, make sure that you do! I couldn't live without mine! I chose the pink one with alligators because it reminded me so much of traditional Lilly Pulitzer, however I love them all!

Monocams?

Here in the south ladies monogram anything and everything! It's almost comparable to how many bow ties our southern gents have! Often times when our fellas are dressed down they incorporate some sort of hunting attire/camo with their southern tide t-shirts. I especially see lots of our gents showing their camo croakies! Let's face it we adore the fact that our men can hunt and fish, even if we are not willing to give up our own beauty sleep in order to partake in these activities!

I decided to have a little fun! I combined camo and monograms to create a fun and unique southern combo! I bought a realtree bandeau bikini, and had the front monogramed in blaze orange! I think it is adorable! It is by far one of the items I receive the most compliments on!

I'd love to hear more creative ideas!

Work it out

To be honest, I find working out to be a total pain! It's the last thing I want to do, on an already busy day! There is nothing worse than sweat caked hair, and it seems like no matter how quickly I wash my face, afterwards it seems that my pores get clogged.

There are however two major benefits to working out. One is the amazing way you feel afterwards. I'm always much happier and less stressed out after. The other is the most obvious, it help's you maintain your figure. What they say is true: when you look good, you feel good!

I am by no means a true athlete, and someone truly athletic would probably laugh at my light work outs. Mostly, I will watch TV while doing squats and lifting three pound weights. Personally, the super muscular   look does not flatter me, whatsoever. I prefer to look lean. While this doesn't seem like a lot, after an hour long TV show, you definitely feel it.  Lately, I have tried to start running more. This, I have struggled with, because I have never really had much stamina. My goal is to get in a mile every day, however I usually only run every couple of days.

When ever I work out I always wear Nike tempo running shorts, what I call norts (Nike shorts.) They have a panty insert and are very comfortable! Plus they come in tons of cute color combinations. Basically I am loyal to Nike, as far as my work out clothes are concerned.  One of my favorite work out essentials is my pink pegasus running shoes! When it comes to anything athletic, one of my general rules is that I may not be the best that there is, but I can always look good while I'm doing it!

Let me know how you like to work out!
Have a fab day y'all!

Kiawah Fun

I think this is the perfect post in honor of the up coming PGA Championship. For those of you who aren't  avid golf enthusiasts, the PGA Championship is the final major of the year! The other majors include the Masters, US Open, and British Open! This year the PGA Championship is being hosted at one of my favorite places on the planet, Kiawah Island, South Carolina. The PGA Championship will be played at the beautiful Ocean Course located near the end of the 10 mile long island.

This past week, my family and I spent a week staying at one of Kiawah's beautiful villas. In fact, my home page picture is the gorgeous view we had from our villa.  For any prepster, Kiawah is really a paradise.

One hot stop is Fresh Fields village which is less than half a mile away from Kiawah's gate house. Not only are there wonderful restaurants, but also fabulous shopping! You can most definitely find your favorite brands including: Vineyard Vines, Southern Tide, Lilly Pulitzer, J McLaughlin, Jack Rogers, Trina Turk and more! The best part is that it's all so close together.
Me having a little bit of fun at Fresh Fields.

My stay at Kiawah was very relaxing and I made sure to spend a great deal of time on the beach! Of course no beach trip is complete with out a Lilly Pulitzer bikini!

In honor of the upcoming golf tournament! My family ate at the Ocean Course, at a place called the Ryder Cup Bar. It was a casual dining place, and was actually very family friendly! The food was tasty and the views were absolutely spectacular!

This is me in front of the Ocean Course club house! Forgive my hair in these pictures the humidity on Kiawah is horrendous!
The stands are all set up ready for the tournament!
On the 18th! The ocean views are just spectacular.
Right outside the pro shop!

Another place you can't miss, on Kiawah, is the Sanctuary! It's their beautiful resort hotel, and the only hotel on the island. Even if I'm not staying there, I love stopping in for a bit of shopping or a bite to eat! Another one of my favorite spots at the Sanctuary is their beautiful art gallery which features some gorgeous paintings of the island!

This is just one small part of the Sanctuary Lobby! To top it off I'm wearing one of my all time Lilly favorites, State of Mind patch!

This is a back view of the main part of the Sanctuary! The whole thing is much too large to capture on my little camera! Behind me, they were setting up for a little beach music concert.

The Sanctuary is also host to some amazing ocean views! This picture doesn't really do it justice, but you can see the patches of blue behind me. I could not get enough of this beautiful ocean! (Yes this is another Lilly outfit!)

Over all Kiawah is truly an amazing place! I can't wait to go back!

I hope y'all enjoyed looking at these pictures as much as I enjoyed taking them!
Have a fabulous day!

Cheers to a new day!

I have decided to start this blog to connect with others who share the same affinity for the uber preppy lifestyle! And let me just say thank you so much for visiting my blog! Every visitor truly means the world to me! Please feel free to ask me any questions or make any comments.

My name is Lauren and I am going to be a senior this year. Currently, I am savoring this last little bit of summer before I go crazy with college applications. I'm trying to 'trot out' every bit of Lilly that I have, that hasn't basked in these hot Carolina sun rays! As a general rule, I love my Lilly in the spring and summer, while I gravitate more towards Vineyard in the fall and winter. However, one thing is for certain,  no outfit is complete without pearls!
